The California Building in Northeast Minneapolis is a former grain mill turned studio building for working artists. The building has a long commitment to arts, community, and arts sustainability in Northeast Minneapolis. The first art studio building in the NE area, artists began renting studios here in the 80's. The tenants include emerging, mid and late career artists in a variety of disciplines. Building owners, John Kremer and Jennifer Young purchased the property in 1991 and have rented studios to artists ever since. California Building has monthly open studio events, gallery events, a restaurant and is an original annual Art-A-Whirl participant and supporter. |
