Encaustic Painting

Who: Barbra Bloy
Where: 2205 California St, NE, Studio #116
When: Sunday, 1pm
Cost:  Donation

Encaustic painting is an ancient technique of painting using a medium of bees wax and damar varnish and various pigments. It was used back in the Egyptian times. The encaustic wax medium is heated up to be applied to the surface of the painting. You can carve into the wax or add many other materials like a collage effect and there are many other things that can be done with this medium.  Recently I have been adding old hand made lace to my encaustic paintings.
